Today I visited an office building in Leeds and it was the single most Bateman building I have ever been to.Luxury flats in there, concierge service and 32 storeys. It is visible from 25 miles away. Twenty of the 32 storeys are Swipe-esque luxury apartments and the offices are occupied by high class businesses.
Public Enemy first burst on to the international music scene in 1987 with their debut record Yo! Bum Rush The Show!, a recorded work which quickly established them in the premier league of hip hop artists, alongside Run DMC, Kurtis Blow and Tone Loc. What sets Public Enemy apart from these contemporaries though, is the range, dynamism and artistry on show from the very first rhyme.
The production skills of The Bomb Squad give an innovative, avant garde backdrop to the surprisingly workmanlike and prosaic rapping of main spokesman Chuck D and his court jester, Flava Flav. Tracks such as You're Gonna Get Yours! and Timebomb really showcase the combined talent of the Public Enemies, but Public Enemy Number One has a jarring synth line which gets right instead your head and gave me a really fucking bad headache that lasted for three days, in spite of the Xanax I was pretty much living on for that month.

It is in the American Psycho style, inspired by the building.And important in terms of how it reconciled moralistic, Swiftian satire with the economic savagery of the Eighties.
From a technical point of view, it is a very cleverly constructed piece of fiction which addresses the Gothic, the city, the body, representations of the masculine, misogyny and wittily subverts vampire tropes in the modern Gothic.
It is also very, very funny.

I go through periods of loving various genres.I'm getting right back into house again, going out raving helped with that tremendously.
Also still digging drone metal and stoner rock. I've probably bored you re. Sunn O))) before, but what they were doing a few years back was as innovative as Miles Davis and Sun Ra. Just they were doing it was heavy as fuck, slow as fuck heavy metal. Their whole thing (and the thing that appeals to me, apart from the sheer sound of that band) is that they always say that their instruments are their amps, not the guitars. The guitars are just a means to explore what the amps are capable of in terms of texture and timbre.
As a confirmed postmodernist that tickles me reet pink. But they also sound awesome. The gong on Bathory Esrzebet is one of the most sinister things on the face of the planet.
