I don't really read Beat stuff. And I see Burroughs as firmly modernist in his output, veering solidly into early postmodernism.

I haven't studied the personal histories of these writers (well, except for Burroughs) but I don't really see any value in describing dead writers as 'dicks'. I'm only bothered about the quality of their output.
