My Christmas shopping is more like balancing an account.
Mum & Dad get £50 each to go towards dinner, theatre trip and a hotel with the rest coming from other siblings. And conversation with my brother that goes something like 'OK, you want Arkham City and I want The Simpsons Season 15 Box set, so why don't we just buy them for ourselves and make it easier?'.

I did get to buy lots of Lego for my niece last weekend though, now I just have to for her to visit on Boxing Day before I she can play with it.

I like this
Ms Foxtrot and her sister got their 6-year-old nephew a Lego dragon for Xmas - he fucking loves Lego - and my first reaction when they showed me was unfettered joy at the prospect of playing with it.

I consider Lego to be an acceptable toy or an adult to play with.
Lego and Subbuteo. They are the only two.

What? Those super heroes on my book shelf? They are NOT 'Action Figures' they are 'Articulated Display Pieces' I'll have you know.

Hahaha
I'm a tiny bit sad that the crappy old Star Wars figures that wouldn't stand up and had lightsabers sliding out of the arm won't be available for me to buy him

I agree
I look at the new Star Wars figures and it just feels like something is not right about them.

Those Clone Wars ones can fuck off

Lego that isn't just Lego is bent.

Never has anyone managed to be so camp with just two words on a screen...

Years of training mate
I'll take that as admiration on your part

It was, it surely was.

When we were growing up, we just had a box of various Lego bits
Easily more fun than the actual sets
(, Tue 29 Nov 2011, 9:04, Reply)
I actually agree with you, and Jeff, in principle
I'd much rather not have all those bits that can only be used as part of the specific set it comes in. But this dragon looks fookin' brilliant

My friend (who turns 24 on December 25th) will likely be getting Lego for his birthday
I envy him.
(, Tue 29 Nov 2011, 9:08, Reply)
I envy no man born on Christmas Day
Best case scenario, it's not as special a day as it should be. Worst case, you get persecuted by the very people you're trying to help and nailed up before you're 34. Rubbish.

His brother was born Christmas Eve
I think his Mum hates Christmas now.

That's just silly
Getting up the duff in late March once is careless, twice shows a shocking disregard for the resulting budgeting ramifications.
(, Tue 29 Nov 2011, 9:19, Reply)
Oddly, there's no birthdays, anniversairies or anything around that time
So no reason to get pregnant twice.

I'm the product of my Dad's 37th birthday.

Some people do just have sex after marriage you know
That said, there's a good chance I'm the result of drunken Christmas frivolity
