You've got to admire the Koreans acting skills.
I don't think I could pretend to be so upset when put on the spot.

Contorting the face to activate the tear glands.
Oldest trick in the book.
Obviously a huge number of them are honestly distraught as they have been brainwashed to think he was the greatest human ever. But I'd say that a large number of people are dissenters too.

They're not acting
It's all they know. They're terrified and so would I be.

They might be about to meet Freefair world.

No sane human being would not prefer to live as the South Koreans do,
if the choice was between a North Korean and South Korean Life.
So yeah, that's what "FreeFairs" world would be like, great living standards, highly liberated, technologically advanced, globalised and very prosperous.

It's straight out of Orwell for me.

North Korean life? Sure it is. 1984 is their goal , and Animal Farm is their skill manual.

So do you think battery hens envy free range hens?
Battery hens don't know anything better - knock down the hen house walls and they won't know what to do.

What do you think North Koreans really know of the world? They're like a lost society.

I'm not really arguing with you, I'm just pointing out that these are the Albanians of 2012.

They might when they see what the rest of the Westernised world does with it.
Assuming their nation modernizes in the same was as China, progressively lurching towards a capitalist, ever more liberal society, they'll come out of this far better than they went in.
If you can do it with 1300 Million people you can do it with 20 Million.

Check your sums and your grammar, son.
And NEVER confuse Capitalism and Liberalism, because I'm far cleverer than you and will fuck you over in any dispute you care to engage me in.

Be fair, the first paragraph Wikipedia has on Liberalism mentions support for the capitalist based market economy. I know there are liberal forms of socialism but that is the mainstream westernised liberal view.

For Liberalism
Start with Hegel and work upwards.

I started with Smith, then Mill, then Hayek.

So you're working on a frankly slanted perspective to start with.
I'm looking for an idealogical starting point here. A basic philosophy, if you want.

You're looking at economists.

Give it up whilst you still have your dignity intact.
I know what TD's capable of and he's more than a match for either of us.
Or indeed both of us.

Beautiful blend of aggressive/patronising there mate ;)
And you have the intellect to carry it off too.
That's why I love you so!
(, Mon 19 Dec 2011, 20:45, Reply)
I've still got it!
How are you, unpopular pariah?
(, Mon 19 Dec 2011, 20:50, Reply)
Still beautifully isolated thanks, just how I likes it ;)
Saves me the effort of being nice.
Gaz on the way...

I'm not longer for this world tonight.
The boy seems to have gone.

Got out of the kitchen.
