i can onlly hear the word frittata in scotishaccent, due to that eggs advert. I have never heard of it outside there. Isn't it just an omlette with stuff in it?

Not quite an omeletteyou don't fold it over, instead you sprinkle cheese on and finish it under the grill. I think that's the difference, I've never made an omelette.
