The missus is being heavily courted by Qatar University.
Pros:
-up to about $90K/year tax-free income. (Above that it gets taxed at US rates.)
-housing and utilities provided.
-free education for me, if I want to get a Masters.
-lots of expatriates to hang out with.
-a three year contract (in case we hate it).
Cons:
-hotter than hell.
-loads of sand and not much else there.
-limited number of places you're allowed to drink as a non-Muslim adult.
-to get said free education I'd have to wear native garb. (Although an Arab man-dress might be comfortable...)
-being halfway around the globe from my family. (Which might actually be a pro, now that I think about it...)
-hotter than hell.
-did I mention the heat?
Anyone else got input on this? If it comes available, should we go for it or avoid it like a biblical plague?

Hell, three years is nothing. And we could make up for the last lean ten years.
And I could find all sorts of interesting antiques to send back home, I'd wager.

Also check the laws for employment, finance, housing etc. You might find if she gets made redundant you'd suddenly find yourself homeless and without any money.

Pretty much any country with a mosque and a royal family or 'general' in charge is gonna be part of it, I reckon.

I mean the yanks have got a massive base there, so it MUST be a freindly democratic kind of place, right?

They're already pretty progressive there- non-Muslims can drink, women can drive, and so on. They don't even make you yodel at sunset, I hear...
