How many?Because if you're not actually hosting a triffid farm, then you really don't need the amount of compost you will end up generating from a reasonable amount of food scrap.

Betweem my housemate and I9, but if I make too much compost I can just chuck it away, not like I paid for it.

Just buy a bag of compost, it will cost your less than a fiverand will keep you going for at least 2 years.
You don't need to repot plants on a regular basis anyway.
