I know she's bringing the cost down, but a five minute search on t'internet has already found quotes for just under £500So what exactly are the brokers playing at by claiming that that's the best they can do?

Research the phrase "authorised representative". Nearly all the brokers are this otherwise they have to purchase their own professional indemnity insurance.
