Bedroom first, though, the carpet is hideous and thin and I don't like woodchip. I'm thinking purple, but not as bright as the orange - it needs to be a bit calming.

There's also lots of things to empty from boxes - the downstairs loo is full of books

Bedroom is important, and purple sounds nice
Empty all the books. You need nothing else- if you have sufficient you can even build furniture from them

i probably could.
But one thing I do have is bookshelves, as soon as I'm less lazy I will have a kind of library in one of the upstairs rooms
