All you need is a bit of adventitious air.Rooms obviously don't heat efficiently by convection if the doors are open, I'm assuming there's at least one radiator in that room? It'll get draughty :( but just crack the door a wee bit and things'll be fine. What kind of windows are there in the rest of the ground floor?
