You wouldI've been 7 times and only done the big sights twice. There's just so much to do and it's so close together.
You can find excellent restaurants just about anywhere. The tourist ones are generally clustered around the sights and really obvious. I would gladly dig out where I went last time - part of the charm is finding shut in delis and cafes that look like they haven't seen the light of day but serve food comparable to Selfridges etc but for pittance. *wistfulRomefoodsigh*

Plus there's the beerwine, cheap cigarettes, lovely women and balmy weather.
