Some MP the other weekreckoned it was still quicker to get to Edinburgh via the M6 and then cutting across, rather than up the A1. This was part of the justification for not upgrading the A1.

Probably rightDepends where exactly you're coming from. M6/M74/A725/M8 is probably your best bet, unless you're coming from NE Englandshire.
