I read that due to strength-based taxationa number of the so-called premium lager producers were planning on/considering dropping a percentage point (or half a one) to increase profits.

With the right marketing, the plebs will lap it up.After all, they were convinced that lager could be "premium" in the first place and happily paid more for it.
