I was looking at net books the other day for that very reason.At less than £250 they looked quite useful, if not as pretty.

In my experience of cheap laptops, they work OK for a few months, then they basically become crippled and struggle to run any software more demanding than Notepad without crashing, turning themselves off or being subject to massive hardware failures.In the worst cases, they literally fall to bits.
