I didn't and yeah it was.
I love autechre (well, their early stuff, when they weren't strangers to melody).

It was an odd one for me
I was much more of an indie kid then and there was a lot of hip hop, which I struggled to relate to (inc Public Enemy, El-P) having no real reference points. There was lots of nice electronica, Aphex Twin's DJ set was amazing and Sunn o))) just confused me at first, but I later learned to love them.

I have nothing to add.
But I wanted to let you know I'm still here.

Jeff.
Autechre.

Started out doing crystalline, shiny, melodic electronica like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=eplM1QfyMsw

These days, strangers to a tune.

I've been listening to this woman this evening

Now she was good!

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:33, Reply)
She knew one end of a guitar from the other.
FACT.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:33, Reply)
An indisputable fact.

I was looking for a 'starter' album to buy.
Fuck me, her recording career is immense.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:35, Reply)
It's unusual for someone from that period to have a "best album"
But there are usually pretty comprehensive collections available.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:39, Reply)
I'll read some reviews and make a purchase.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:42, Reply)
It's rare for me to recommend a Best Of... Album
But for someone like that you can often get nearly everything they've done on one compilation.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:48, Reply)
That would be perfect.
I shall hunt!

This is how I feel during discussions about football.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:23, Reply)
What is your local professional football club?

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:24, Reply)
York City.
But football is for the lower classes, and the quenders.

I'll sit this one out.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:25, Reply)
Sit it out in your Stone Island jumper.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:26, Reply)
I'm offended by that.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:27, Reply)
ha!
You know I don't mean it.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:27, Reply)
I fucking hope not.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:28, Reply)
You're more of a Burberry man.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:31, Reply)
Coventry City
I kind of followed them during their brief glory days in 1987
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:31, Reply)
Well go to the odd game and if you still think it's bent, don't go no more.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:31, Reply)
Tried that.
It is and I don't.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:33, Reply)
Fair enough.
Can't say you didn't try!
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:35, Reply)
El-P is great.
How can you not get hip hop?

Weird.

And Sunn O))) are superb.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:18, Reply)
El-P was the first live hip hop I ever experienced
And though I kind of enjoyed it, like I said - I had no real reference points. I'm a white, English, middle-class indie kid.
Monoliths and Dimensions was one of my favourite albums of 2010. I saw them play with Om in Birmingham and it was amazing.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:29, Reply)
My favourites are White 1 & 2 and Black One.
