i couldn't use my firm's without charging £400 plus VAT an hour. and i've never done any family law, so the advice would be Wrong.
but i know a man-who-can.

Sending a letter on the firms paper is pretty much tantamount to malfeasance or the equivalent, as it puts their professional indemnities at risk. She works as a com prop/lit solicitor for a city firm of solicitors who wouldn't do family law if their heads were on fire, there is no legitimate reason for sending 'mates letters' at all. That'll be gross misconduct and a nice escorted trip from the office for a final time please.
