But rather than spending our money on a whole new venue
Couldn't we have spent less money on improving it and attracted a cash investment from visitors?

Isn't a lot of the "legacy" going into Crossrail though?

(, Fri 18 May 2012, 20:12, Reply)
cross rail was always an option
what we really need is a new airport in the thames estuary, that would be good

It's called Schipol.
Short of some Panama Canal type excavation, that's the best you'll get.

I haven't seen much improvement.
And I've been in and around East London where the games are going to be - Clapton, Shoreditch, Hackney, Mile End, Bethnel Green etc - loads the past month or so. I honestly wouldn't know there'd been improvements unless someone told me. That said the new Kings Cross and London Bridge concourses are nice. Don't make a difference to the actual travelling, mind.
