which excuses a hell of a lot of stuff but, on the other hand, I find their politics objectionable, their world view inexcusable and their insularity unbelievable.
On the whole I am ambivalent. I really wish they weren't so heavily indoctrinated in the old "USA! USA! USA!" business. A lot of the Americans I have met though have been highly educated and embarrassed by the same things I dislike.

Those people that make an effort to educate themselves and travel are far more open-minded and easy to get along with, same as people everywhere. Being in the US for any length of time and meeting those people that aren't interested in broadening their horizons is...disturbing.
