Alright?
I'm working late tomorrow night for the third week on the trot. This makes me :(

Get a better job then.

(, Mon 16 Jul 2012, 20:51, Reply)
I've applied for a new job today.
I'm not sure if I'd actually want it, though.

If they call you for interview then go. You'll at least be able to find out more about the role and may find it's more appealing than you'd thought

What is a reasonable day rate these days?
Figures seem lower than they were six months ago.
(, Mon 16 Jul 2012, 21:04, Reply)
Role dependent as always, from £250 to £1200 per day

Although..........
Dwarf prostitution isn't for everyone.

Just saying

Depends where you're pitching
I've seen obscene numbers bandied about for HMRC contracts via Fujitso locally.

We've been paying dba's £1700 a day and they're moaning about it

I get my money from putting people into property.
My biggest contract is next to HMRC's Northern Hub.

I'm laughing.

Nice.

And - as I keep saying to the point of tedium
My own business - all my own work.
(, Mon 16 Jul 2012, 21:36, Reply)
I know exactly what the job is
as it's working for a group I used to provide technical support for. It's a nine month contract starting in September, so a longer work guarantee than I have at the moment (though that could change as it already has twice.) I know I could do it standing on my head BUT I'm not sure about the wiseness of dipping my toe back into that particular programme, and the people I'd be working for are a fairly oleaginous bunch whom I frequently had to overrule in order to veto their wilder ideas that would have got them into trouble with EU auditors...

I've applied as it's not to start until September anyway, so hopefully I'll have a better idea about my current contract by then.

I might not even get an interview anyway.
(, Mon 16 Jul 2012, 21:06, Reply)
Yeah, I want to.
There's a project on at the moment that'll give me some good experience in an area that I'm really interested in, though. If I stick it out I'll have a better chance of moving towards where I want to go. Means I have to stick at a shit-heel job for a while longer, though.

bah.

MTFU etc.

Sometimes you have to wade through shit in order to get new shoes.

(, Mon 16 Jul 2012, 21:22, Reply)
Have you been reading 'motivational' posters again?

(, Mon 16 Jul 2012, 21:24, Reply)
I just made that up.
I quite liked it.
(, Mon 16 Jul 2012, 21:24, Reply)
I didn't.

(, Mon 16 Jul 2012, 21:25, Reply)
I don't know, you click with one finger and disparage with the other.
So fickle.
(, Mon 16 Jul 2012, 21:26, Reply)
Yep. It's almost like I have two distinct personalities.
