One of the benefits of universityis that it's a buffer between the cossetting of schooldays and the grim and desolate reality that is self-reliance in 'the real world'. It's a kind of halfway house in a sense.

Here the problem is that so many people who go to uni are also on benefits as well.So they don't really learn anything about working at all until after uni.
