Ah, but it doesn't matter how bad they are at maths as long as they're through the door and bums on seats.
"Roll out the red carpet on open days, save the badly ripped lino for when they arrive" is the message we've been given. I have several students appealing their degree result this year because "I worked hard and paid my money and it's not fair that I only got a 2:2/third/pass".

Really?
It's the sense of entitlement I can't stand. You worked hard, did you? Well, perhaps you should have worked harder, you little shit.

That's my reply,
although somewhat more diplomatic so they don't give us bad reviews in the National Student Survey.

Anyway, those aren't ground for appeal so they have to go and think of better reasons. Dead grandmother or the like. Bueller...

"Sorry mate, it doesn't matter how hard you work if you're thick."

Were you my tutor?

Only in the ways of physical intimacy

I was flabbergasted that I got a 2:2, personally.
That should not have been humanly possible due to 'men behaving badly' activities, see above.

To this day I take this as confirmation that I must be some kind of super-genius.

we've only got ripped lino.
but then, meh, we're so oversubscribed it doesn't seem to matter.

Doesn't stop a proportion of them being fucktards, of course, but it seems better this year since tuition fees came in down south - our retention rate from 1st to 2nd year is better than it's been for years.
