Jericho was fairly similarexcept that the antagonists were terrorists rather than aliens.
Not that it was properly explored, as they cancelled it after one series. Then brought it back and cancelled it again.

It's a shame they had to rush and fit a whole series into five minutes at the end, when they knew it definitely wasn't coming back.They did the same with Caprica as well, which was a shame.
