Alright Windy,
You're in the pub trade, right? And you're in Oxford, right? Are you in the 'cool' bit of Oxford - i.e., the 'triangle', or are you more centrally located?

(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:55, Reply)
well, if you like paying £4 a pint for beer,
from lines that have probably never been cleaned, then no.
And, they've ruined the Hobgoblin, which used to be the pub where you would run out of the 02 and buy a pint between acts to save spending a fortune on shit beer.
(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:58, Reply)
Stalker.

(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:28, Reply)
Absolutely. As a stalker I have all the answers already, of course.
I'm 6000 miles away, but live in Oxford normally, so it's interesting to know - there are some cracking pubs in the 'ford and there was talk about a bash in Oxford - I'd be keen.
(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:35, Reply)
You must be a student,
as I've lived in oxford my whole life and never know anyone refer to any part of Oxford as "The Triangle"
Are you on about the money end, i.e Jericho and summertown, or student Village, i.e Cowley Road and Iffley?
(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:32, Reply)
this came across more aggressive than i had hoped.

(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:38, Reply)
I thought it was quite butch

(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:41, Reply)
do you like it when i'm aggressive?

(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:49, Reply)
a bit, yeah

(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 18:05, Reply)
No way!
I teach the buggers, but am not one myself! Have you never heard of 'the golden triangle' - i.e. Cowley and Iffley Roads? I'm not a local, brought up in the area, so I don't know the real terms. Jericho - I wish I could afford to live there...
(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:39, Reply)
Dude.
The Golden Triangle is in Southeast Asia.

DURRRR!!!
(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:41, Reply)
Velly solly.

(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:51, Reply)
Never heard it referred to as that,
but i can see that. I gazzed you my pub.
I used to live in Jericho, i had a basement flat on Walton Street. Nothing i owned was stored lower than 6 inches abve the floor. It is not all luxury.
(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:43, Reply)
But think about the LOCATION!!
A local guy helped us move house - he grew up in Jericho and used to watch Supergrass, Radiohead etc. in the Jericho Tavern. It's scary how much the houses there cost now - my missus was actually a student in Oxford in the early 90s and said that then, Jericho was a 'no go' area - times chance, eh?
(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:50, Reply)
yeah, it used to be proper rough,
Then people got all in to period houses, and BOOM!!!
Also, it's not far from Woodstock road, the traditional home of the money in oxford, so if you wanted to be close to the upper lot, but weren't so flush, Jericho was where it was.
I saw Supergrass at The Jericho, and Thom Yorke and his wife are friends of ours.

More shameless namedropping I have never seen
outside of my own posts.
(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:56, Reply)
I have yet to post on this week's QOTW about my own acquaintances and friendships. I think I will leave it.

(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:58, Reply)
i want to be like youooooo ooo,
talk like you, walk like you its truee ooooh oooh.
(, Fri 21 Sep 2012, 17:59, Reply)
*does Wayne and Garth 'we're not worthy' routine*
That's fantastic and at the risk of potentially pissing of Mr Boyce, I think Radiohead (and of course T.Y.) are probably the most significant band to have come out of the U.K. in the last 20 years.
