feeling bad about things is just normal, as above you're not really depressed unless you're reaching for razors

Well, it is possible to feel so bad that you can't motivate yourself to go to work.
Or even get up and face the world. And still not feel like you want to top yourself.

What I never understand is if depression is caused by a chemical imbalance that can be treated with drugs, then how can talking help
if it's purely psycological, how can drugs help?

probably positive thinking or sharing or something helps release other chemicals in the brain to make you feel better
