So how old were you when you realised that God doesn't exist?
Were you raised religious? Were you raised in a secular manner?

I was never convinced as a kid; I always thought it was just silly.

My suspicions were confirmed in Primary 5- we were doing a project on Greek mythology (could have been Roman) and I asked my teacher how come these gods weren't real and ours was? She gave a half-assed answer.

This sounds a better thread than mine.
We were told at school, if we didn't believe in Father Christmas, then we didn't believe in God jesus and the rest, and would burn in Hell. Which was nice.

There probably was a historical Jesus
But he didn't have any supernatural powers.
(, Fri 2 Nov 2012, 12:56, Reply)
I doubt there was an historical one.
I don't think he's mentioned by any of the contemporary historians. I shall Google this.

The overall assumption is that yes he existed.

It sounds a lot like one of those
God-awful portmanteaux that Americans are so fond of making up.

I've never believed in a God.
I was raised to be an atheist, by atheists.
I did once worry if I was perhaps just blindly following my parents' beliefs in the same way as someone raised in a religion, but then I looked into it and realised that religion is shit and pointless.

good answer
My dad was rabidly Presbyterian (rabidly lots of other things too) and on my mum's side, baptists. I found it inescapable.
