It depends if you absolutely *have* to have Office.
If not, OpenOffice does 90-95% of what MS Office does, the missing bits is some macro stuff etc that most people may never use.
OO will also open files from any version of MS Office, older versions of MS Office are incompatible with the new ones!
Try it, it's not like it costs anything. ....

So can my son use it for his homework on both PC and Lapdog, and transfer them DATA wise to be used on Office 2010 at school?
