So, an exciting day here in grey land?
We need an evening thread to warm our cockles

um, if you were to be represented by a colour, an animal and a noise, what would they be?
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 17:52, 79 replies, latest was 13 years ago)
I had my cockle warmed this morning.
Denny Crane.

The peacock would also be wearing espadrilles. Royal blue with turquoise flashes.

back on the bike today after a loong illness
so a bit tired, looking forward to a bit of housework and then bed. otherwise life is goodish.

it's possible I'm having a cup of tea and a donut in a minute.

"Must be returned in original wrapping within 28 days."

Seems strict. Anyway, hope yer better and manage to increase your riding frequency.
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 20:57, Reply)
I'm finally more or less recovered. I shall be cycling the rest of the week if the weather holds
and probably if it doesn't.

how is life with you?
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 20:59, Reply)

Really good, thanks. Weather's been shite, which I've been using as an excuse to avoiding the bike. Also , it's dark here before nine and after four if the weather's good. Otherwise it's dark .

Need to get out more, though, and stop making excuses.
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 21:04, Reply)
Can't say I blame you.
How far north are you? sounds harsh.
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 21:12, Reply)
Aids? Typhoid? Beri Beri? Lead Poisoning?
Been reading about lead poisoning recently. They used to mine lead in the North Pennines and the average adult life expectancy was 40, but the last years were utterly fucked.
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 20:50, Reply)
just a cold that lasted 7 weeks.
combined with life being interesting and busy, left me with no energy to cycle safely and I'm not risking my good shoulder.
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 20:56, Reply)

(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 21:10, Reply)

But it's confusing my state of inhibited sobriety
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 21:24, Reply)
Evening
I'll go with a fluorescent green octopus that plays "Guantanamera" when startled.

I have seen a very very nice flat. Bit more than I originally thought I could afford (although I've spoken to a mortgage advisor since then) and 2 bedrooms rather than one (and one has an ensuite, which seems excessive). Also it's right next to the DLR. But I live above a main road with a fire station currently so loud street noise bothers me not at all.

I have more flats to see tomorrow, but I quite like that one. Maybe...

Can't really help you there Lighty
West Yorks market I know, and we make it easy.

London market is totally different. I do a bit of contract work for a Southern investor on a development up here. What I do for the money is stupid compared to what I could do down there.
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 21:45, Reply)
Link us up there Lighty.
City lost again.

We're 5th though, above all the London clubs bar Chelsea. I hope this eases your pain.

That is probably a moody version, but it'll still most likely work (and it's cheap).

Open office is free to download and use.

(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 22:33, Reply)
It depends if you absolutely *have* to have Office.
If not, OpenOffice does 90-95% of what MS Office does, the missing bits is some macro stuff etc that most people may never use.
OO will also open files from any version of MS Office, older versions of MS Office are incompatible with the new ones!
Try it, it's not like it costs anything. ....
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 22:37, Reply)
This is the correct answer.
So can my son use it for his homework on both PC and Lapdog, and transfer them DATA wise to be used on Office 2010 at school?
(, Tue 6 Nov 2012, 22:43, Reply)
Yes, should be fine.
