the short answer is that family planning and womens eductaion is the best way to drive the development of countriesthat's where the focus should be. However that's a long term goal and it's hard to see starving children now and say we won't help.

Anyone can teach economicsyou just assume something is perfect (like demand) then say everything flows from that.
