Often it's cheaper to let a derelict house fall down, and rebuild, than it is to prop up the derelict house

yeah, but there have to be limits
you know, like when they design a bus and they have to only design the seats to fit people under 6'3". it'd be nice to be able to design seats for everyone to sit on, but it's just not feasible.
