JJ Abrams famous lens flaring effect was inspired by TNG, you know.Apparently the costume department had to keep re-applying matte foundation to Patrick Stewart's head to reduce the reflected glare from the studio lights. Paramount released a clip to him of the first recording they made of the pilot, before they realised the issue.
Apparently all you could see beyond the blinding glare was Riker's gut and Tasha Yar's penis bulge.
True story.
