I'm pretty sure I can use my Kindle and most Apple things I ownregardless of what they are connected to, though. I see what you mean, but there's no removal of actual functionality for being offline in those cases.

No, but if Amazon suspect any irregularity in your accountthey wipe your Kindle next time it connects and don't ask why.
