I could drive the new one if I could be bothered to go to the post office and get it taxed.

(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:36, Reply)
Why not tax it on the Internet?

then I have to wait ages for the disc, and ladypig wants to go away next week,
And if it doesn't arrive she'll punch my eyes through the back of my head.
(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:46, Reply)
Mine's always turned up within a day or two.
Just so you know.
(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:49, Reply)
if you knew ladypig, you wouldn't risk it.

(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:50, Reply)
Mine too

(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:50, Reply)
As soon as you pay you are road leagal
So you don't need to display it till it arrives
(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:49, Reply)
this sounds like bull crap.

(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:50, Reply)
Actually it's not.
They hold all your details on a database. They see you without a tax disc and check the database. I think there's a gracew period before they get pissy about you not displaying it.
(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:52, Reply)
really?

(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:54, Reply)
Yep, I've driven around without a tax disc displayed loads of times.
I'm well shit at organising simple things.
(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:57, Reply)
Yeah
I used to drive my MG without displaying the disk as it didn't have a hood and I was worried some retard would nick it to try and claim the remainder back.

The fact that it was historic and therefore free probably wouldn't have registered with your more special class of retard.

Makroney is correct

(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:54, Reply)
This is true for online
if you go the post office there is no grace period, you must display it straight away.
(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 9:56, Reply)
Techincally true
but if they know it's taxed from the database all they ever do is occasionally stop you and give you a talking to (see above)
(, Fri 22 Mar 2013, 10:09, Reply)
Ben Fogle is right about Makroney being right
