Are you a QOTWer? Do you want to start a thread that isn't a direct answer to the current QOTW? Then this place, gentle poster, is your friend.

Pictures of any kind are usually frowned upon on off topic, however well received they are.
Generally if you are going to post them, you keep them relatively small and SFW.
It helps if you are already a popular poster, if you are planning on stepping outside these guidelines.
I suspect that you already knew all of this though.

not even joking, I've been posting on b3ta for over 10 years and I just discovered this

Some people don't like images on here.
Funny ones are usually well received.
I suspect that some people go offline when there are lots of pictures on here, but I don't have any data to back this up.

that you've spent a lot more time on here in the last few weeks than previously. Because we're the new cool.

You wouldn't* post these things on /talk.
It doesn't actually bother me, no one overlooks my screen at work.
I'm just trying to answer your questions.
*couldn't?

So, far as I'm concerned as long as it's SFW by /board, then we're good to go.

and some people don't like food threads
what's your point?

Is it really that hard to grasp?

I put it in quotation marks to make it clear for you.

But, as proven in this thread, the questions at the top often become irrelevant to the main discussion within the thread.

Even though I have no one over looking my screen

you know you can install the Stylish addon and write a custom CSS for offtopic right? I mean, it's not like you're compelled to display those images just because they're included in the web page.
(, Tue 26 Mar 2013, 14:08, Reply)
In IE you can't turn off images per tab. Only for the browser. Why should they do that when it takes even less effort for somebody to not post a picture?
(, Tue 26 Mar 2013, 14:17, Reply)
that being reasonable doesn't get a response.
(, Tue 26 Mar 2013, 14:26, Reply)
so how is one to guess this rule exists on offtopic? and how is one to know that it's a stepping offence?
you're insisting on enforcing your rules on this board, they're nothing to do with the rules in the FAQ. If people "transgress", you have a go at them for it, they get arsey and either troll you or just leave, what do you expect?
the fact is the IMG tag works on offtopic, whether in a new thread or a reply, if you don't like it then I suggest you leave.

You know this. There's no need for anybody to get stroppy over it. If you post images, and I'm not saying you can't, you're likely to be ignored. Either by people just not posting in the thread or by people actively ignoring you.
If you don't like your images not being well received then I, in response, suggest you leave. We haven't come over to talk and started getting stroppy over the fact that you don't like food threads or whatever, you've come over here and got stroppy over us preferring not to have pictures on the board.
Again, nobody is saying you can't post them, just don't be surprised if it doesn't go down well.

this place seems to have a lot of rules that I was unaware of and that aren't in the FAQ.
No one told me you "shouldn't" post a picture in a new thread, there's fuck all in the FAQ about it and yet it is deemed a transgression of the unwritten laws because b3th says so.
(, Tue 26 Mar 2013, 13:59, Reply)
But it's a sort of courtesy to other members who do post from work. More happy people, more posters more fun.
And the mods enforce it based on what the majority want.

Let's do a survey of what people who post on b3ta want, I'm sure plenty of serious suggestions will be raised

Poeple just stop posting in those threads. Post pictures if you want, all that'll happen is that people will get bored of scrolling past them and wait for a new thread or start ignoring.
You lot don't really like links, we don't really like pictures. That's all there is to it, no need to get stroppy.
