Most idividuals (employed people) pay their taxes. High net worth not so much. Corporations less so again. I wouldn't want to pay a lot more to rescue people from their situations if others above me weren't doing their bit. It's a vicious circle.
Most of the population doesn't seem too appalled by people getting a shittier deal in life than themselves.

You don't need to pay a lot more, that's the whole pointyou really don't contribute as much as you think you do, it's the Starbucks, Amazons and investment banks that provide the bulk of the money.
