They should have let that run
If they can't cope with the guilt of what they sanctioned or were complicit in then fuck 'em. Wagner's antisemitic views were well-documented too, which adds another level of poignancy to the proceedings.

I feel the same way regarding Speer's architecture etc - pulling it down so you don't have to be reminded of your recent past seems like a cop-out to me.
