(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:33, 2 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
Why?

(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:35, Reply)
the mrs is becoming a freelance consultant
so trying to work out the best way to be, sole trader or ltd.
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:37, Reply)
Sole trader
Don't complicate things to start with.
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:38, Reply)
yeah I begging to think that, earnings will eb low anyway as only working 2 days a week anyway
what's your business?
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:40, Reply)
Property Inventories
I have a few rental properties and I've done a few renovations.

Another lesson - I love what I do - don't get into it if your heart isn't in it.

tbh, this lady (friend of the family) needs a web designer/marketeer
mrs is perfectly positioned to help, but to do it properly needs to register...i'd get cash in hand if I could

Something I'd recommend wholeheartedly is HMRC learning courses
Really good - they'll tell you what you can and can't claim, what your status is and how to do it properly.

cheers mate
tell me about your rentals, students/professionals, Bristol/Leeds/London, agency/self managed?

unless you don't want to, just interested is all.

The opening line to The Orb's less successful follow up single, etc, zzzzzz.

Yeah, I'm going for a smoke now.
Possibly an early night, too.

West Yorks and one nightmare North Yorks, mix of student and professional
Run 'em myself now - you don't have a dog and bark yourself...
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 21:01, Reply)
I'd always thought I'd rather have higher end properties, less likely to get trashed
but, potentially more demanding tenents
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 21:02, Reply)
Topcliffe - North Yorks
Looses me money consistently. It's the nicest gaff I've got by a long way - Edwardian 4 bed mid terrace - but it's always Army officers who fuck it over.
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 21:08, Reply)
We are renting out our flat, I'd love to keep it and build a "portfolio"..I just have so much maths to do

(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:48, Reply)
I do have small company
It fucking hard to start with, but am very rewarding if stick along him.
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:36, Reply)
just the mrs for now and probably won't really grow as I'll knock her up agina at some point

(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:37, Reply)
Let it work at your own speed then
I set up two years ago and expected too much - I was on the bones of my arse for a year but it's going now.
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:41, Reply)
i'm impressed, with a mortgage, child etc I don't kn ow how I'd leave the warm blanket of PAYE!

(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:47, Reply)
I don't have those encumbrances
And - without sounding pretentious - I had the security of my investments to fall back on.

Seriously, you will - or your Missus will - learn a lot of things about herself that she may not have known. This may be for the good or the bad, but it's a very life-affirming experience if nothing else.
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 20:57, Reply)
i think that might be key...big risk for a family man like myself

god I sound old : (
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 21:01, Reply)
It's what you're putting into it

(, Mon 13 May 2013, 21:04, Reply)

(, Mon 13 May 2013, 21:05, Reply)
Consulting into what though?

(, Mon 13 May 2013, 21:11, Reply)
marketing innit
she already has a job lined up and pay sorted etc, now need to sort the official details
(, Mon 13 May 2013, 21:12, Reply)
Can't help there but books will be easy
If you don't buy and sell it's pretty easy to keep your own books.
