I used to work with a guy who used to drink beer at his desk to "prove a point"
That point being that our boss would go to the pub every lunch time and have two or three pints in one hour so there could be nothing wrong with him having a few cans spread out over an afternoon at his desk. Oddly he got away with this.

I think I'd like to make a similar point
Only my boss doesn't go to the pub at lunchtime and consuming alcohol during working hours is considered gross misconduct.
Reckon I'll just knock off at three and go to the pub then instead.
