Higher education has been made "more accessible" to keep people off the employment figures
25 years ago 5-10% went to uni, now it's 50%.
Either 40% have got cleverer, or they're letting thicker people in.
It's tied in with the low wage/zero hour contract tax-credit subsidised economy we've created over the years, so the 1% at the top can cream off the wealth (16% of it, and rising allegedly).
Either house prices have to fall, or the buy-to let economy has to be undercut by new council houses, or this country is fucked, as labour mobility at the bottom end is tending towards zero.

Or maybe rather than 40% of people getting cleverer in 25 years, maybe just maybe the jobs available in the UK now require a higher level of education?

More like the standards have dropped, so you need a degree to sweep the streets
