It's an SSRI
which means the effects are "questionable" .. most meta-analyses put SSRIs barely above placebos. BUT .. that's not becuase they don't work, it's because they only work a proportion of cases, and that evens out over large numbers of people to "not really working that well"

If it helps you, keep taking it, but large doses are bad (mmm'kay?) and SSRIs can be quite hard to wean yourself off if you take them long term.
