The terrifying thing about those sort of initiatives
Is that no matter how much you streamline things, someone will always demand you cut back/work faster/produce more. WHERE DOES IT END?? With one single person working a 72 hour day, 15 days a week, doing the jobs of 450 people.

My father in law's going through this exact thing
They keep making people redundant, but not the work. Compared to 3 years ago, he's now doing the jobs of four people. Naturally, he's still on the same salary.
