isn't it also because americans get hardly any holiday, compared to us, for example?
if you only get 10 days a year, you're perhaps less likely to go abroad, as you won't want to spend 2 of them on an aeroplane.

and is also the reason why you seem them haring around Europe at 1000 miles an hour completing some exhausting checklist of photo ops, the poor sods.
