I've just never found anything that's enough cheaper on eBay to even vaguely justify the risk of buying it off "some geezer you don't know" rather than "a shop"
It particularly amuses me how often something second hand on eBay is more expensive than new somewhere else.
It really amused my how someone paid £150 for my 3 year old iPhone 4. FFS you can buy a new one for £180.

And my Pebble watch was £99 instead of £180ish.

you paid £60 for something it's possible to get for free, and you paid £90 for something that no-one in their right mind would pay full RRP for?
I'm convinced.

which I assume he needs? In any case, no-one in their right mind pays £300 for something like that.

if it is for sale for £60 on eBay, it's worth £60. And you'll be able to buy it for £60 somewhere else. That's how the world works.

He could trawl the web for hours and find one for £60 on some site he doesn't know or check the big online stores and see if its cheaper on ebay.
