Smart/Casual
Why isn't there a word for smart/casual? There's even a word for the bit of worn grass under a seesaw, although I forget what it is so surely smart/casual should have its own word. This is starting to bother me.

As a concept, it's flawed
Isn't it?
If I have to be smart I'll wear a suit, or at least a shirt and decent trousers.

If it's casual I'll wear jeans, army boots and a t shirt.

If it's smart/casual, I'll end up wearing jeans, boots a shirt and maybe a tie.
Stupid society.

Smasual?
It's a thought...

Kaol
is perfectly correct.

I can do smart. I can do casual. I can also do scruffy (which is most of the time). But smart/casual is nonsense.

smart/casual
= full fat diet coke/etc etc

Diet coke
Fucks you up.
Natural sugar is far better for you (unless you're diabetic) than the sweet-chemical-slurry-mix in diet coke.

I went to a do the other night...
On the invite it said:

'Stylish - smart-casual'

WHAT THE HELL AM I MEANT TO DO WITH THAT?

dress codes annoy me
as does "fashion". I wear what looks good on me, no matter whether it's fashionable, or smart or whatever. To be honest, I'm always somewhere between smart and casual anyway: either nice linen trousers and a plain top, jeans and a nice shirt, or a pretty summer dress/skirt and a nice top.

I think as long as you don't look like a tramp, anything goes. Unless it's a black tie event or a serious business meeting.

@Al
That's similar to the situation when I go into a chippy - "I'll have a fish supper and a can of diet Irn Bru please".

@al
yes yes, I get the hint. It depends on the weather: I'm not going to wear any of my black dresses or skirts if it's a hot day. And especially if I'm cycling.

Oi!
I just read that, Al. I'm hurt.

And yet, at the same time, I'm not.

"Whale-meat"?
Is that slang for "penis"?
"Look! It's got a blow hole as well!"

@Al
I wouldn't be dressing for anyone other than myself.

I do actually own quite a few cocktail-style black dresses and cocktail skirts: it's a style that suits me, so I tend to wear them a lot. I wouldn't dress a certain way even if my boyfriend told me to, let alone a complete stranger.

I think there should be a dress code for the London bash.
Smart/casual with a kitten in one pocket and a cup cake in the other.
