Yeah, it should be stored as how many seconds since the epoch.But there will still be issues surrounding representing that in a user-friendly way.
I work on systems that are time-sensitive and have their own representation of a day. A 24 hour period between 6:01 and 6am so 16/10/2013 01:00 is actually 17/10/2013 and it FUCKS WITH MY BRAIN.
