he's probably almost just about alright at the moment

I wouldn't do that. The younger lot are all fucking stupid.
They're fun to keep around as mates so that I can snee snee behind their backs at how stupid they are, maybe for the occasional suck job in a building site, but other than that, they serve no purpose.
