I like them but I can't leave them to cook that long.
I make holes in the mash with a spoon and drop them in. Then cover them up again.

I'd rather fry good bacon in butter until crispy then 30 secs a side for the scallops

Deffo on their own is best.
But they are nice in a pie.

Personally, I'd have a scallop starter and use the coral in the pie.
