How many miles would you have to drive to make up the thousands of pounds a new car would cost?
More than would make the savings worth while I'll bet

If your road tax is a few hundred and you moved to one that was only £20, or free, that's a big saving over a few years
and such a car would be markedly more fuel efficient too.

So if you drive a lot of miles that will also make a big difference.

Honestly, do you not get that there is a balance on costs where it's worth buying a new car, to which you also have to add the fact that a new car is less likely to break down and need new parts, plus it doesn't need an MOT for three years, I mean really, you're allegedly an intelligent person, surely you can see that there are situations when a new car is better value over its lifetime than it is flogging an older car.
