I've seen those.
I agree with the principle, but most shops don't let you try before you buy. Age isn't everything but it's a pretty good indicator.

masters of malt sent me an email trumpeting some they thought were good
but they were mostly just as expensive as, say, the Dalwhinnie, so I'm not tempted at the moment.

Price differentials on whisky correlate to age, but if something is white labelled and sold at a price you'd expect for a 20 year old malt it's a big ask to pay that much, effectively blind.
