Question: how to keep track of interesting threads?
I sometimes want to check back to see if a posting that I've replied to has had further replies, but I'm buggered if I can think of an easy way to find postings to which I've replied

Half of them are made when I've been drinking, so I don't always remember when I've replied either. The search facility shows me my own postings and replies, but not the thread in which they were posted. Clicking on the icon just produces a page full of [blank].

Some of you seem to notice replies almost immediately. How do you clever buggers do it? Witchcraft? RSS?

Do tell!

Not just you al
*sighs*

I sometimes copy and paste the address of the post into a notepad, so I can check back quickly. And keep loads open in tabs in a separate window.

Being a low to no-techie

I tend to use a post-it note with 'near the bottom of page 3' on it. Then check every so often.

There are loads of replies to posts that I've never found again, to see whether anyone commented on my replies.

It would be nice if this could be fixed - a gaz to say: 'Chart Cat has replied to your post: "That reminds me of a bar in Smethwick" ' or something would be good.

My general philosophy is: meh. If I have strong feelings, I'll usually gaz the poster as well as/instead of replying.

Oh yes, the other 'easy' way is to go to your profile, scroll to the bottom, click 'see all their replies' and find the post there. Then click on the little page icon at the top to see the post and all replies. Only works if it's your post, doesn't work for your replies to others' posts. And it's not that quick.

Or, you could use the force, I suppose

Er...
I just kinda remember where I've posted recently.
Then go back to it.

I always forget as well :)
Unless it's in the ongoing offtopic or my post I rarely find what I have been replying to!

Delicious
Delicious all the threads you're currently looking at and then delete/view as necessary.

Some good tips there
Fanks folks, I'll keep looking into it and if I find a really shit-hot way, I'll let you all know.

There's a Firefox extension called
Update Scanner which seems to do the job nicely. It will check as often as 5-minute intervals (plenty for the likes of me) or you can force a manual check by clicking a button - better than hitting F5 a million times, no?
