I'm waiting for The Schooner to open again.
Preferably with Sunday afternoon strippers again.

Ahh... The Schooner. I used to visit there at dinnertimes when I worked in the bookies.
Didn't it open dead early as well? Now you've got to go to Coopers or The Portals for a 7am pint.

6am I think. Used to go after a nightshift, or (like most people) when I'd been up all night and was well fucked.
On one of the latter occasions, a mate put on the full 12 minute version of "I'll Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" four times in a row. This seemed funny the first time.

lol.
Yeah, I've been in the portals after the afterparty stopped at 7am. Full of folk from further south still going until they can get a train back.
Last time I was there I had a nice chat with a couple of alcoholics who were just in there because they were awake and the offie wasn't open yet. The correctly guessed I'd been on the garys.
A couple of my mates upset a bloke in their local because they put £30 in the jukebox and challenged themselves to go through a song starting with every letter in the alphabet. He was even more upset that after going to a different pub for a couple of hours his tunes still hadn't played.
I also remember being stood hiding from the rain in the Castlegate between the Casino shutting and Portals opening, knowing that I had work in about 3 hours. God knows how I didn't get sent straight home when I went to that one.

Didn't know Portals opened so early. Is that in the last couple of years?

Nah. It's been 7 or half-7 for as long as I can remember.
It did change a few years ago; the back room is now gone.
There's also the Balaclava. Quality.

I've just moved back after 8 years. Can't remember it being a thing back then.
